Senna meridionalis is a sculptural caudex plant loved for the contrast between its thick, characterful base and delicate compound leaves. Fine leaflets spread from slender branches to create a light, airy canopy above the heavier trunk — almost like a miniature tree that has been weathered by time.
Native to Madagascar, this slow-growing species is naturally adapted to seasonal dry conditions and has been acclimatised to Singapore’s tropical climate. As it matures, its caudex becomes increasingly textured and expressive, giving every specimen its own personality.

Fun Fact!
Senna meridionalis is deciduous and may shed some or all of its leaves when it enters dormancy. The bare branches aren't necessarily a sign that the plant is dying — its thickened base stores reserves that allow it to rest before producing another flush of delicate foliage.
