An ancient form, made even more unusual.
Variegated Cycas revoluta is prized for its dramatic feathered fronds streaked with shades of green, cream and yellow. Growing outward from a sturdy central caudex, the foliage forms a beautifully symmetrical crown — architectural, structured and almost prehistoric in character.
Native to southern Japan, Cycas revoluta is an incredibly ancient species, belonging to a lineage of plants that existed long before flowering plants appeared. This variegated form is much harder to come by and slower growing, making each new frond something to appreciate.
Carefully acclimatised to Singapore's tropical conditions, it makes a striking collector's piece that becomes increasingly sculptural with age.
Highly toxic to pets if ingested. All parts of Cycas revoluta are toxic, particularly the seeds. Keep well out of reach of cats and dogs.

Fun Fact!
Despite commonly being called the Sago Palm, Cycas revoluta isn't actually a palm. It is a cycad — part of an ancient group of plants that has existed for more than 200 million years.
Care Notes
Sunlight ☀️
Bright light with gentle morning sun is ideal. Good light helps maintain compact growth and strong variegation.
Water 💧
Allow the soil to dry partially between watering. Cycads store reserves within their thick caudex and dislike constantly wet soil.
Humidity 🌬️
Well suited to Singapore's humidity. Good airflow is important, especially around the crown.
Tip 💬
Cycas grows in occasional flushes, producing a whole set of new fronds at once before resting again. Avoid disturbing the soft new leaves while they are unfurling — they will gradually harden as they mature.
